Jökulhlaup • [yo-KOOL-lahp]
Icelandic term for a catastrophic draining of glacial lakes that causes floods, landslides, and icebergs. A sudden glacial outburst flood.
The Jökulhlaup is making the railroad raise its tracks, so we must raise the road!
The Seward Highway MP 14 Railroad Crossing Reconstruction project will protect the road from floods and improve resiliency against natural disasters.
